Cappadocia It is one of the most impressive places in the world, its rock formations make it something unique and special. Some compare it to the moon and the truth is that they do not fall short.
When we were to Cappadocia and we find its wonderful landscape, we do not hesitate to want to travel it in a balloon, if it was beautiful while you lost walking among its rocks, from the air it had to be even better and the truth is that we were not mistaken. We tell you our experience, our balloon trip through Cappadocia !!!
Balloon trip through Cappadocia
We were staying at the Cappadocia Cave Land hotel, a small hotel with a lot of charm, if you go there we recommend it without a doubt. We were lucky that just the owner of the hotel managed one of the companies that organize balloon trips, so we did not think about it when carrying out this adventure with them.
The company is calledSkyway but in Cappadocia you will find a lot more, we recommend that if you are interested you will close it once you are there because it is normal that there are agreements with some of the hotels, or if not, go directly to the information office to give you all kinds of details.
Cappadocia - Valley of the Doves
The journey began at 5 AM, but they picked us up at the hotel at 4:15 am on a bus. They went through more hotels to pick up more people and then they took us all to a big tent to have coffee and some buns for breakfast.
Then we continued on the bus to the area where all the balloons were. In each balloon fit an average of 40 people, since the basket is composed of 4 parts, 10 for each part, plus the two people who are responsible for piloting it.
5am was approaching and we had to climb, the truth is that the moment to start flying is a pass, just then it began to dawn and the colors of the sky were a true wonder, to that if we joined him the rest of balloons that began to see in the air the landscape became something magical and spectacular. Many may think that being fashionable and having so many balloons the moment can be spoiled, but the truth is that I cannot imagine that moment with only our balloon, the mixture of the landscape, the sunrise and the rest of the balloons was brutal. The journey takes about an hour and you can see everything Göreme.
Once you landed, the company had a fun detail with all of us, handed us a medal to each one and then we offered a bottle of a local liquor (as you know in this country, alcohol is not very well seen).
The Goreme Museum from the air
Once the balloon was picked up by the organizers they picked us up again on the bus and took us to the hotel, as it was 7 in the morning we opted to sleep a couple of hours before continuing with our route by Cappadocia.
A happy ending!!
When to go?
Although you can go to Cappadocia all year round, to make the balloon trip it is recommended that the weather be favorable, so the best months are from May to October. We were lucky to be there in August.
How much does a balloon ride in Cappadocia cost?
It cost us a little more than € 100 per person, although prices can range between € 90 and € 150, depending on the season and as we said before if you have any agreement with the hotel. In our case we could pay with card or in cash, in euros or the Turkish lira. Anyway, if you don't want trouble, we recommend you book it and pay in advance.

How to go dressed?
Although it was August at dawn (in Cappadocia the nights cool) we recommend wearing a sweatshirt and for the coolest long pants. We went with shorts, flip flops and sweatshirt and we were fine, although it is cold along the way and waiting for them to prepare the balloon afterwards it is fine since the fuse gives off heat.
