A multisensory tasting of whiskey in Madrid. By the hand of Logonbrands we went to a very original event in the Studio Pradillo 54 room in Madrid. A tasting of whiskey somewhat special or rather, multisensory, accompanied by the violinist Ara Makilian to the sound of one of the best whiskeys in the world,Glenfiddich. From this moment it is time to be an apostle, fan or follower of his 3 great references, his 12, 15 and 18 year old whiskeys, who just by smelling and tasting them were encouraging us all night.

A little history

Distillery Glenfiddich It was founded in 1886 by William Grant in Dufftown, Scotland, in the valley of the Robbie Dhu River. The first drop of whiskey Glendfiddich He left the stills of the distillery on Christmas of 1887.

After the difficult moments of the 1960s and 1970s, many small independent distillers were bought or left the business. To survive, William Grant & Sons expanded its beverage production, and introduced advertising campaigns, a visitor center and since 1957 the Scotch bottled in its distinctive triangular bottles.

Glenfiddich is also famous for the symbol of deer, icon used because Glenfiddich means deer valley in Gaelic.

An evening where malt whiskey and music were the stars

At the beginning of the evening the stories that are hidden behind each vintage were told through images projected throughout the room, creating a unique atmosphere and especially creating expectation, an expectation that was even greater when the musician entered Ara Makilian to the sound of his violin and his characteristic music.

Ara Makilian

You don't have the opportunity to taste the main stars of every day Glenfiddich. They are 12, 15 and 18 year old whiskeys that can be drunk perfectly alone due to their soft aromas and flavors, to be a whiskey, and that also do not need or should be mixed with anything.

About Ara Makilian

Of Armenian origin but born in the Lebanon, Ara Makilian began playing the violin at a very young age from his father's hand. During his childhood he spent great periods in air shelters studying music because of the conflict in his country, a conflict that did not make a dent in his career as a musician. Ara has won many world-renowned competitions, the first in 1987.

With Ara Makilian

Because of its deep roots Armenian the style of his music reminds us of Central Europe, the gypsy or Arab community, yes, always with his personal touch that has made him famous throughout the world.

Indications for a good multisensory tasting

  1. Watch and let yourself be carried away by the sensations, feel!
  2. Experiment with your nose and discover aromas and nuances of fruit, peat or wood.
  3. Let yourself be carried away by the sense of taste, taste a small sip of each vintage.
  4. And finally, the ear, that eternal forgotten in the tastings but with it the notes sound like fantasy and elaboration.

It is said that we drink in moderation, do it, but with a whiskey of this quality, I do not know, of course I have always been a gin lover but I fear that since today there is a new friend in my little treasure closet ...
